Rolling up sushi made with colorful fruit leather, gummy worms, and a sweet cereal mixture was exciting for the kids, and made this recipe a runaway favorite. These will disappear! The sushi rolls are sweet, so one piece might just be enough.
Ingredients
- 1 ¼ cups rice cereal, such as Rice Chex or Rice Krispies
- ¾ cup white chocolate chips or vanilla baking chips
- 2 rolls Fruit by the Foot (narrow rolls of fruit snack), unwrapped
- 12 multicolored gummy worms
Instructions
- Put cereal in a resealable plastic bag and crunch it up with your hands or a rolling pin. You should have about ¾ cup.
- Microwave chocolate chips in medium bowl, as directed on package, just until melted, and stir till smooth. Add crushed cereal; stir until coated.
- Unroll Fruit by the Foot rolls, and cut into four even lengthwise pieces. Peel off paper.
- On a cutting board or other surface, spread about 1 tablespoon of cereal mixture near the bottom of each long fruit strip. Arrange 3 gummy worms, cut into short segments, on top of cereal.
- Roll up each snack tightly so that the gummy worms are wrapped in the cereal mixture and surrounded by the fruit roll. An adult can trim the gummy worms if desired with a sharp knife to make edges neat. Press to seal end of fruit strip.
- Let stand for about 5 minutes until firm.
More Information
Firm fruits such as apple or pear also work. You could also add raisins, or other dried fruit such as dried cranberries, cherries or mango.
