ONCE in a while, we have chocolate. And the kids went nutso for these fruit-and-chocolate goodies, even with dark chocolate. They are so simple and quite rewarding. ;) You could also use apple slices or pears (Nirvana!) and can roll them in nuts if nobody is allergic.

Ingredients

  • 3-4 clementines, seedless, peeled and broken into segments
  • 12 or more very fresh strawberries, with stem ends still on, washed and patted very dry
  • 8 oz. dark chocolate, chopped (or chocolate chips)
  • Sea salt
  • Finely chopped nuts, if desired

Instructions

  1. Line a tray with foil or parchment.
  2. Put the chocolate in a glass bowl and melt in microwave at medium temp, for a few seconds at a time, to prevent burning.
  3. Dip the fruit into the melted chocolate until it is about 2/3 of the way coated. Gently put on sheet, and sprinkle with just a few grains of salt. Alternately, dip into chopped nuts before chocolate hardens.
  4. To hasten hardening, put in the fridge for a few minutes. Store in refrigerator.
